A bizarre accident involving a flash grenade resulted in the injury of 2 Fort Worth SWAT officers.

According to Sgt. Marc Povero, the incident occurred at the police training center, where one of the grenades exploded in an officer’s hand. Said officer was rushed to the Parkland Memorial hospital with serious burns on his hands, while the other was sent to John Peter Smith Hospital after complaining about having trouble hearing.

No word yet on what triggered the device.

For those unfamiliar, a flash grenade is a  non-lethal explosive used to temporarily blind and/or disorient individuals. It is usually accompanied by a loud bang, and the temporary blindness only lasts for about 5 seconds.
