Listen, Harry Potter fans are some of the most dedicated people on the frikkin planet!
A new roller coaster – Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure – opened up at Universal Orlando Thursday morning. By noon that day, employees were advising fans that the wait would be at least 5 hours long.
But honey, you know that wasn’t going to truly deter faithful Harry Potter fans. Some waited as long as 10 hours until it was their turn to get whisked through the Forbidden Forest.
So what caused the wait to be so long in the first place?
It might have something to do with Universal’s Virtual Line system could be used for the new coaster. People could book reservations through the app, leading to more potential riders. Meaning you could have been first in line, but possibly 40th to actually get on the ride.
Luckily, Universal has stated they don’t plan to use this feature in the future.
To add to the excitement, several cast members took a ride on Thursday too. Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, Evanna Lynch, Warwick Davis, and the twins James and Oliver Phelps were all in attendance at NBC’s “Today Show.”
Regarding the ride experience, Tom Felton said, “It was amazing.” I’m sure this excited even the most stalwart Harry Potter fans to see some of their favorite characters enjoying the coaster.
Sadly, Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) couldn’t make it that day but welcomed guests via video message. But I mean, that obviously wasn’t that big of a deal according to the turnout, right?
So, it looks like Orlando is slowly becoming the capital of all things Harry Potter. That’s a pretty interesting turn given Disney World is in the same city. Soon, the entire state will become a paradise for nostalgia-seekers.
Will you be making a trip there soon? Let me know in the comments!
